Chartier Motorsports heads east this weekend about 15 hours east for the Grand Prix de Valcourt at the birth place of Ski-Doo and home of BRP. Team Chartier is coming off a good weekend at Forest Lake, MN last weekend and is ready for the big and fast track at Valcourt. When we caught up with Malcolm he said, “We made some adjustments to all the sleds after some time on the test track this week and I’m feeling real comfortable on everything.” With three races left on the season the team is hitting its stride and looks to finish strong. Team owner Todd Chartier said, “We really have been working hard since October and it feels good to be firing on all cylinders as a team. Mike Houle has been a huge help with the new Champ we brought out this year and I am excited for these last 3 races. I really want to thank all the sponsors who support us all year.” Look for the results next week and good luck #33 !!
EAGLE RIVER UPDATE 1-21-08

Chartier Motorsports has returned from the 45th World Championship Derby. There was quite the support for #33 as crew members Todd Chartier, John Martin, Greg Schieman, Chris Schneider, Nathan Oprita, Mike Houle, Todd Beamish, and sponsor Greg Furtah were ready to brave the -14 degree temps and 35 below zero wind chill. The indoor “hot seats” had more Chartier faithful with Heidi Joachim, Robbie Joachim, Jaime Oprita, Michelle Frank, and Jenny Brown not missing a race. Malcolm ran 3 sleds Champ 440, Pro 500 and Pro 600 in various classes throughout the weekend. Champ 440 Friday night under the lights and fireworks was wild racing. Lots of red flags throughout the night made for a slow show and unfortunately Malcolm was one of those red flags in the 600 class as he got tangled up with another sled and his night ended early. Repairs were made to the sled to get ready for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday the heat race to get into the World Championship was within reach but wasn’t to be as Malcolm had to shut down early because of handling issues with the sled. The 600 class was a battle with tight racing and a 3rd place finish. When Pro Stock 500 rolled across the finish line Malcolm again was bit by the unlucky bug as he was unable to finish with issues in handling. Even though hours go into preparing these sleds, track conditions change and make all the difference in getting around the track. Malcolm was still upbeat when we caught up with him in the race trailer on Sunday. “We had a tough weekend with a lot of racing. It can be hard getting a handle going back and forth on all 3 sleds on a track like EagleRiver. I want to thank all the sponsors and my crew that make it all possible.” Don’t forget to check out the pics in the photo gallery from the weekends action.
